We are rapidly expanding our production capabilities, growing our product line of on-camera accessories, and increasing global distribution. Focusbug is looking for experienced assemblers and technicians to join us in developing new and innovative electronic tools.
Launched in 2017, the Cine RT system is designed and manufactured in North Vancouver. Focusbug has an extensive international clientele and a full range of partnerships in the film tool manufacturing industry. Our products are used by camera departments on some of the largest productions in the world (e.g., Star Wars, James Bond, Dune).
Position: Electronics Assembly Technician
As part of the Focusbug team, you will assist with the assembly, testing, and delivery of one of the most popular range finding systems in the film industry today.
Responsibilities & Duties

Production, assembly, and testing of ultrasonic range-finding systems
-
Diagnosis and repair of system components
-
Building and testing cable assemblies (fine pitch hand soldering)

Tracking BOM and maintaining raw materials inventory
-
Maintain test reports and ensure traceability for all finished products

Maintain work instructions and internal documentation
-
Maintain a clean and ESD safe work area
-
Assist with picking, packing, and labeling products for shipping
Your Skills
-
2-3 years of experience working with small electronic components in a production environment (Coop term experience counts toward this)
-
Previous work experience with camera systems and broadcast equipment is considered an asset
-
Knowledge of electronic and electrical theory in a diagnostic capacity.

Experience with troubleshooting, diagnosing & repairing electronic systems, including removing and replacing small Surface Mount components.

Demonstrable ability to hand solder small components and connector assemblies with magnification (e.g. 00 series LEMO connectors)
-
Attention to detail & the ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Good mechanical aptitude including experience using small hand tools and other types of power tools found in a workshop (drills, taps, soldering, crimping, stripping, etc)

Good verbal and written communication

Familiarity with Windows (Office 365) and Mac-based systems
-
Ability to read and understand work instructions, procedures (both paper and electronic versions) and interpret technical documentation and drawings

Ability to create documentation in a collaborative environment
